Skateland saved when the Brick City Roller Girls took charge with a fundraising effort.
For years, maybe decades, Skateland sat empty and forlorn until re-opening as a thriving and much-loved recreational location on Main St., soon home to the Brick City Roller Girls roller derby team and its prime motivator Jamie Primmer. Running into hard financial times and closing once again, Primmer decided it was time to be a little creative in order to keep this vital entity afloat. Through bake sales and a gofundme.com campaign, the doors are open again and a whole new series of classes and activities are in full swing glide! “At $2.50 a session if you have your own skates and $5 if you don’t, making a trip to the roller rink is one of the least expensive recreational opportunities in town, and it’s fun and rewarding and can include the whole family.”
Will this time be the charm? With monthly and annual memberships, plenty of coupons, private lessons, private parties, and even skating dance classes, Trinidad again has an exciting way to stay healthy.
