International Bank donates building on Main St. for the Space to Create project.
In a demonstration of unparalled community spirit and support, International Bank, with home branch in Raton, NM and newest branch in Trinidad, donated a building to the city of Trinidad. The Franch, most recently known as the home of Gordito’s Mexican Restaurant, located at the corner of Main and Church Streets, was the bank’s gift to the Space to Create project, soon to break ground.
With up to a five to seven million dollar investment from State, Federal, local and foundation partners, Trinidad’s new art and live/work space complex will serve as a model for nine other such projects throughout rural Colorado. Other investment partners include Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Boettcher Foundation, the state Department of Local Affairs, History Colorado, and Artspace of Minneapolis. These community-minded organizations are bringing to Trinidad an economic stimulus badly needed and not possible without this type of partnership. The City of Trinidad is the local partner in this endeavor.
