Little Women plays to delighted and enthusiastic opening weekend audiences.
SCRT opened its 14th Professional Summer Season with a fresh and vibrant production of the musical Little Women by Knee, Howland, and Dickstein. The company of actors and production staff, recruited from “coast to coast,” brought to life the timeless story by Louisa May Alcott through beautiful and emotionally moving music with a distinctly modern feel. Opening Night audience members were feted at local business Tees Me Treat Me, a short evening stroll down the street from the Famous Performing Arts, where the audience joined the company in a grand celebration.
Equally exciting was the Saturday night performance with the newly formed Club 190 which brought a busload of revelers from Denver to Trinidad. SCRT’s worst nightmare turned into a unique experience for theatre-goers when the sound system failed, and the professional actors staged a 30-minute impromptu comedy act while harried technicians dismantled and re-built the theater’s sound system. Places. Cue lights. Cue sound. The show went on.
Nothing beats live theater where miracles happen almost every day!
Little Women continues in repertory through Sept. 3.
