TAAC Changes its name to … TAAC! Loses and Finds a Home. What an adventure!
Since its inception, TAAC has stood for Trinidad Area Arts Council, but as the organization has evolved, it has become a vibrant center for training in the arts for youth and a showcase for multiple art forms from visual art to music and the spoken and written word. The TAAC Board decided it was time to change their name to better reflect their current mission: Trinidad Area Art Center. (TAAC)
And the change in location? Well, that was not as consciously planned when the building that housed TAAC’s Gallery Main was sold, the new owner raised the rent, and TAAC was almost out on the curb. But, that’s not the Trinidad way. For the month of December, TAAC’s annual Christmas Market will be housed across the street in donated space at the Pond building at 121 E. Main. And in January, TAAC will move to its next home. Details will be available when all the paperwork has been signed, for if there’s anything we’re learning in the fast pace of change in downtown Trinidad, everything is in flux until it’s not.
