SCRT’s Intern Program molding careers and sending teenagers off on adventures.
Off to Hollywood
Every now and then a life-changing opportunity presents itself to the youth of our community. Just such an opportunity was presented to Nathan Segers. Nathan has been involved with the local Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre (SCRT) as a student, a volunteer, an intern and a full time member of the SCRT summer professional company for the past two years. His skills have recently been noted by Global Entertainment Industries of Burbank, California. Global Entertainment provides the majority of backdrops and sets for television productions and commercials in Los Angeles. Nathan will go to work in Global Entertainment’s 100,000 square foot shop in Burbank, learning the necessary skills to build professional scenery. Already an accomplished computer "nerd", Nathan will be learning to program CNC machines to cut both wood and steel for various designs that eventually become the sets seen nightly on TV.
Before leaving town, Nathan trained fellow interns to take his place at SCRT as positions open for new recruits from local youth. Obviously very excited about this new opportunity, "I'd love to return to Trinidad someday as the Technical Director for the SCRT," promised Nathan during his exit interview.
