The Trinidad Community Foundation’s City of Champion’s Award was established to recognize and celebrate championship level performance in the community. On Saturday, January 21, at Mt. Carmel, this award was presented to Susan Palmer and Rodney Wood “in recognition of going above and beyond the ordinary in establishing ArtoCade as a successful addition and contribution to our community.
”As an artist, educator, arts advocate/activist, Wood has taught art at all levels within various environments and disciplines, and has served on numerous art-based boards and committees, including as Director of the Business of Art Center and Director of Fine Arts at the Colorado State Fair. Upon moving to Trinidad, Wood opened Gallerie Vivante at 214 E. Main St. and created the Trinidad Artocade event. Palmer owns and operates Oasis Studies at the same location and has served on the Trinidad Tourism Board, the TSJC Massage School Advisory Board, and as program chairman of the Pierian Club.
