With a quickly growing musical scene in Trinidad, Dwight “Ike” Roberts felt the town was a good fit for what he has to offer. Not only a music store but a store that sells instruments, vinyl records, home audio equipment and more. Ike also gives lessons in guitar, piano, and voice for children and adults. Already have an instrument that you haven’t played for years because it needs repair? Ike can take care of that! “I’ve been involved with music in one way or another my entire life, and I’ve been recording music for my friends and myself for over 30 years,” shares Roberts. After graduating from San Francisco University with a degree in audio engineering for studio and film, Roberts worked for eight years at a recording studio in Sausalito, California.
Roberts plans to share that experience with others through classes as well as starting an after school program to teach beginning recording techniques, showing kids how to do multi-track recording and give them examples of many different microphones. He will also be offering classes in building musical instruments like tuned bamboo wind chimes, wooden marimbas, and more.
